While it’s not on the baseball diamond, SF Giants pitcher Matt Cain just added a loss to his stats. Cain’s real estate reality means the young baller will likely take a loss on his recently relisted and completely remodeled Noe Valley home. Curbed SF is reporting that just this week, he placed the home back on the market for $1,795,000. That’s $255,000 less than the $2,050,000 he paid for it when he bought the place in 2008.

It was first listed in September 2011 for $1,950,000. The price dropped a month later and was pulled from the market in December. It just reappeared on the open market with the same reduced price from December.

What can you actually buy for that reduced price from the champion pitcher? The Mid-Century home has an open floor plan and floor-to-ceiling windows that optimize stunning San Francisco Bay Views. The corner home is detached on three sizes, allowing for wonderful natural light – a rarity in the fog-drenched city by the Bay. The top floor features an open living room, dining room, solarium and exquisite kitchen with refrigerator, 6-burner Thermador range, Bosch dishwasher, microwave, sound-system plus desk area with iPod dock and computer station. The bedrooms include two large master suites, a den that could could be converted to a 5th bedroom and a powder room complete the floor. The lower level has two additional bedrooms and a bath. One of the bedrooms is currently used as family room opening to large view deck.

Cain is a free agent next year and hasn’t yet received a long-term extension from the Giants, which may be prompting the sale. Or maybe he needs a change of scenery. Either way, the reduced list price indicates that he’s highly motivated to sell. Play ball!
