Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are having a heck of a time selling their longtime Malibu estate. Described as a “Bali-influenced contemporary hideaway,” the estate sits on the big-money stretch of Malibu sand called Broad Beach.

For many years, Goldie and Kurt have put this Malibu beach house on the summer rental market with an asking price of $95,000 per month. In the summer of 2011, the longtime duo  not only lowered their monthly asking price to $80,000 per month, they also placed the beachfront property on the open market with an asking price of $14,749,000. Two scorching summers and many months passed and no buyer stepped up to the plate.

Now, they are resorting to drastic measures – price chopping nearly $5 million clams off the asking price. Are they going Overboard, or is this a shrewd and savvy real estate move?

At the new, lower price, the home’s real estate agent says this home is “simply the best priced home on the beach!” The exotic and inviting residence was extensively redesigned  to offer tranquil light-filled living spaces, a spacious ocean-view designer kitchen, an integrated entertainment system that includes a Creston media room, and peaceful bedroom retreats that open to balconies and courtyards.

The luxurious oceanfront master suite has awe-inspiring views and a spa-inspired bath area with onyx surfaces. The expansive grounds feature tranquil fountains, lush mature landscaping for added privacy, an grand oceanfront patio with covered outdoor living room and fireplace, and a grass covered fenced yard with a path across the sandy dunes. It’s quite the spread for a beachfront property on this stretch of sand. The property also features a detached 2-room guest house with full bath. As parking is hard to come by in Malibu, this estate naturally features a 3-car garage.

Property records show the unmarried duo of 29 years picked up the Malibu beach estate sometime in the late 1980′s for an undisclosed sum of cash.

Hawn and Russell own quite a few other residences, including a 5,057 square-foot-house in Pacific Palisades purchased in August 2004 for $4,124,591. They also own in Snowmass, CO, a waterfront estate outside of Toronto and a Midtown Manhattan penthouse.

The news just broke that high-flying Oracle CEO Larry Ellison purchased 98% of the island of Lanai – the 6th largest of 8 Hawaiian islands – for more than $500 million. DiCaprio currently owns 2 homes in Malibu, and purchased this particular home at  23736 Malibu Colony Road on October 9, 2002 for $6,000,000. The home has 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and 2,633 square feet. DiCaprio just completed a beautiful remodel in time for summer and is now ready to lease the home out to someone who wants a temporary taste of how the stars live. The unique property has a 4-bedroom main house on the stunning Malibu ocean-front, as well as a 2-bedroom detached guest house, and a third detached loft with gym, media room, seventh bedroom and office area. Iconic crooner Barry Manilow is singing the real estate blues in Malibu. The singer of “Mandy” and “Can’t Smile Without You” first listed the home in early 2009 for $12,600,000. Four months, later he switched agents and dropped the price to $10,900,000. With no buyer, the home came off the market but made a reappearance in March 2010 for $9,150,000. Now, it’s back!

According to the Real Estalker, Manilow purchased the home in 2002 for $3,850,000. Now, it’s listed at a much more down-to-earth (and realistic) price of $6,950,000. Will a buyer come along and finally make Manilow “smile?” We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, let’s get into the juicy details of his hard-to-sell home:
