Former Marc Jacobs Rental Hits NYC Market at $23,000 a Month

      Marc Jacobs

      New York City

      Most Known For

Fashion designer of his eponymous line and creative director at Louis Vuitton

      Home Stats

      3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2,062 square feet

      Price

      $23,000 a month

According to our friends at Curbed,  fashion designer and icon Marc Jacobs has just vacated the Chelsea penthouse rental that he’s been shacking up in since 2009. Jacobs has been renting while anxiously awaiting the completion of a full renovation of his brand-new townhome.  According to New York Magazine, Jacobs’ new home is one of six built as part of Superior Ink, the much-buzzed-about Robert A.M. Stern–designed condo project.

As it turns out, Jacobs wasn’t the only recognizable head to ever lay on the pillows at 252 7th Avenue.  The 2,062-square-penthouse at the Chelsea Mercantile actually belongs to former New York Ranger and current Montreal Canadien hockey star Scott Gomez.

If you’re interested in taking over the lease from Marc, prepare to pony up $23,000 a month (that’s $8k MORE than the $15k Marc was paying). Seem steep? Perhaps you can justify the cost, since the 3 bedroom, 3  bathroom home comes fully-furnished. It’s a classic New York City penthouse with an expansive furnished terrace, making it the perfect setting for cocktail parties.

The home is currently configured as two bedrooms with den, and features a full kitchen, entertainment system and sweeping city views of the Hudson and Downtown skyline. Designed with high ceilings and a huge terrace, this Penthouse feels more like a home than an apartment. The open kitchen comes complete with Subzero, Miele, and Viking appliances.

As if a fashion designer and clothes hound like Marc Jacobs would have it any differently, the penthouse has abundant closet space and also comes with a washer/dryer and additional storage unit in the basement. The Chelsea Mercantile is one of Chelsea’s premier full-service buildings boasting full-time doormen, concierge, valet, gym, roof deck, childrens play room, and bicycle storage.

The East Hampton home belonging to real estate mogul Elie Hirschfeld is for sale with a whopping $25,000,000 price tag, but if you’re named Hilary, you have a husband named Bill and your last name is Clinton, then the home is yours to borrow this summer. According to the New York Daily News, Mr. and Mrs. C are packing up the swimsuits and secret service for a week-long beachfront vacation.

The 12,000 square-foot home in the coveted Estate Area of Lily Pond Lane was built in the 1920s and has a private beach. It’s a landmark home, originally designed and built in 1920 by John Custis Lawrence. A total renovation, including structure and foundation, was completed in 2002, and the home now maximizes ocean views from almost every room. The residence is the epitome of comfortable living with 8 bedrooms, 7.5 baths, 2 powder rooms, a sun/game room, a large living salon, library, formal dining room and a gourmet kitchen. It also offers 5 fireplaces, and 20′ x 40′ heated gunite pool. Landscaping for the 1.2 terraced acres has been designed for protection against the natural elements and to maintain full privacy…perfect for the Clintons who just need to get away.
