The massive Thousand Oaks home, custom built by hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and later owned by disgraced baseball star Lenny Dykstra, is for sale for $14,995,000. Dykstra never sold the home to the current owners–he lost the amazing home to foreclosure after a string of personal discretions left him in high water and without the funds to cover the mortgage.

Gretzky was the original owner of the custom, Richard Landry-designed estate, but Dykstra took over when the hockey star and his family moved to another incredible estate in Arizona. According to reports, Dykstra purchased the compound in 2007, furnishings and all, at the peak of the housing bubble for $18.5 million. The baseball great then tried to flip the home  for $24.5 million in 2008, according to Internet reports, before going through a period of trouble with the law and his creditors. Shortly thereafter, the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion–considered by some to be the crown jewel of the Sherwood development–fell into disrepair. It was game over for Dykstra when the home was finally purchased at auction in November 2010.

Now, the home has been remodeled, restored, and placed back on the market. It’s also gained a couple of well-known neighbors in the past few years: Pete Sampras and Britney Spears! So, to all prospective buyers looking for an incredible home with A-list neighbors…step up to the plate!

In recent years, Spears has leased two properties – one in Calabasas, Ca. and most recently in Hidden Hills, Ca.Property records show her new Thousand Oaks 1.8-ish acre home was once for sale for $8.9M, however  was last recently available for lease at $25,000 per month. A possible hint as to what Ms. Spears may be coughing up now.

According to The Real Estalker, Britney and the kids have been planning to move to suburbia for a couple weeks now and have finally settled on bringing the circus to the exclusive guard-gated golf community of Sherwood Country Club. He and his actress wife Bridgette Wilson-Sampras are selling their newly-built, custom estate in the guard gated community in Lake Sherwood, a sub-division of Thousand Oaks, California. The home was placed on the market in March of 2010, and has yet to find a buyer. Now, the price has come down to $19,950,000 in hopes that someone will take the massive property off their hands. In the meantime, property records show that the 14-time Grand Slam-winning tennis ace and the former Miss Teen USA are shacking up with their two kids in a $5.6 million pad at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in the star-studded Brentwood area of Los Angeles.

While they enjoy their new digs, their former home sits atop a hill, waiting for a buyer. The new contemporary home is on a 20 acre lot, boasting unobstructed 360 degree views with complete privacy. The main house spans approximately 13,000 square feet. There is also a separate 2000 square foot gym, and a 1200 square foot, fully-contained guest house.
